Oil and acrylic on canvas and juta. Kumiko’s portrait is part of the triptych “Asians”. Kumiko, a young Japanese from Tokyo, rubs her eyes as if she no longer wants to see the human miseries. She’s worried about the post-pandemic era, looking for an escape, and a better future to face with open eyes. It is an introspective portrait, between being and appearing, so much so that small figures leap in front of her, in a psychological emanation, symbolizing the desire for novelty and to escape.
